Hello, friends!
Another month has come by and lots of memories made. I’m so grateful we get to find the best and most wonderful moments amidst the challenges that came our way.
This month is a bit of a rollercoaster for us. We had tragedies that we experienced and heartaches we wished we didn’t have. But our Heavenly Father gave us the strength to overcome them all.
As a newly-married couple, we knew we will experience hardships that we may feel we are not ready to face but are necessary for our growth and building a strong foundation for our family.
We are doing our best to establish God in the center of our lives through family prayer, scripture study, and wholesome activities. And I know these helped us overcome those challenges.
Let’s jump into May’s review.
May 2023 Highlights
Here are our highlights for this month:
- A Motorcycle Accident. This is a bit of news to share but @lolasloveandcare had a motorcycle accident while we were driving to my parent’s house. We were supposed to visit my mom and bond over a nice sleepover but things got out of hand and we ended up bringing her to the hospital.
- A Series of Miracles. But even though this was a heartbreaking experience, we were blessed with miracles during the accident. It’s a very rare occurrence to have an accident happen near KAAC (Kilos Agad Action Center) where in just a few minutes, an ambulance and first-aiders are there to help Mama get to the hospital quick. Her motorcycle didn’t have any damage too! Lastly, after some tests at the ER, we were told that she only had a fracture and nothing else. I mean, if that’s not a miracle, I don’t know what is! We were very grateful for these miracles and this experience did increase our testimonies about the love of God for us. We know Mama still has so much to do in this world and we can’t wait for her to recover and make things happen as a family.
- Mother’s Day Celebration. May is a very big deal for mothers and we made sure to make them feel special on their day. We visited my mom at home and surprised her with a bouquet of preserved flowers and cake! It’s not much but we get to eat grilled chicken and enjoy the rest of the night with Sister Arque who made a phone call from her mission field. I know mom loved every bit of our celebration and we can’t wait to do it again on her birthday this year.
- Game Night with the YSAs. Because of all the crazy things that happened, we didn’t get to host a game night for the YSAs for 2 sundays and we really missed them. But we’re so happy that we get to do it before the end of May and the whole apartment sure blasted with laughter and good vibes after those quiet weeks without them. We even got a new board game we got to play which we are happy to give a review on next month!
Board Game Review
We are going with this one board game at a time and this month’s game review is ever-delightful but very competitive:

Unstable Unicorns
It is a card game that can be played by 2-8 players who must put themselves first. Our friends loved it and we usually play this game while waiting for others to come and play another board game suitable for a larger number of players. It’s easy to understand and works perfectly with new friends who you want to know better. Just watch out or you’ll be destroyed in an instant!
We promise to post a detailed game review this June. Keep updated!
Kier’s Book Reads
Although a lot has happened during this month, I’m happy that I get to complete at least one book for May 2023. Here it is:

Gray Mountain by John Graham
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a lawyer fiction novel and I’m glad I did. A gift from my sister-in-law, I feasted on the amazing story of Samantha and the Appalachia mountains as they fight against mining companies. This novel really hits home as I know how a lot of lawyers in Palawan fight for nature against companies who wanted to destroy them. At times, I even stop for a moment and think about what would happen to our province if mining is widely allowed to encroach on our lands.
Bottom line, this is a good book that I would recommend everyone to read.
Our May 2023 is a roller coaster experience indeed and it sure marked a memory in our hearts. Despite the many challenges that we’ve faced, we were given the light of hope and witnessed miracles that increased our faith and testimonies in God.
I hope you’ve had a wonderful month as well, but if not, remember:
“Sometimes the Lord calms the storm, and sometimes he lets the storm rage and calms the child.”
